Learning Basics

Here at Carolina Mobility Sales, our Senior Sales Consultants are capable of answering the following questions, as well as addressing any concerns you may have.

  • What type of handicap accessible vehicle is best suited for my needs?
  • What adaptive equipment is best for my needs?
  • Will I ride in my wheelchair in the mobility van, or transfer from my wheelchair/scooter?
  • If I stay seated in my wheelchair while I ride in the mobility van, which seat position is best?
  • Will I simply use my handicap accessible vehicle for wheelchair/scooter transport, and if so, is a lift or ramp easier to use?
  • Which mobility products require the least amount of maintenance?
  • Will I drive my mobility van with hand controls or other driving aids?
  • Is there another handicap accessible vehicle that is easy to maneuver and handle, yet still fill all of my mobility needs?

In most cases, the wheelchair accessible van conversion delivers an excellent mobility solution to all of these questions.

In the wheelchair accessible van the floor has been dropped 10-14 inches allowing the wheelchair users to sit comfortably remaining in their chair. An automatic ramp allows easy wheelchair access, especially after the automatic kneeling system lowers the suspension closer to the ground, making the incline of the ramp a degree that most users can enter without assistance. All of these features are tied into a one-touch system on the key fob for the car. The key also controls the automatic sliding door and truck so vehicle entry is effortless for the handicap driver or passenger.
